What is a good definition of a tropic hormone?

The anterior pituitary, namely adenohypophysis, is the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland which produces and secrets tropic hormones that are regulating the function of other endocrine organs.

From all 6 adenohypophysis hormones, 4 are tropic hormones.

The 4 tropic hormones are:

1) TSH or thyrotropin, which has the role of stimulating the thyroid gland to produce and secret the thyroid hormones.

2) LH, which is essential for reproduction because it's stimulating the emission of steroid hormones in ovary and testes.

3) ACTH or corticotropin which regulates the metabolism of glucose

4) FSH regulates the pubertal maturation.
