Swine Flu is also known as H1N1. The Centers for Disease Control recommend that everyone get vaccinated against this strain of flu. The vaccines were once hard to come by but now they are readily available.
Like most other influenza viruses, H1N1 is spread from person to person through coughing and sneezing. It is also important to take precautions such as covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough and washing your hands. In addition, avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes and if you do get sick then stay home to prevent spreading the virus. It is also important to follow public health advice and stay informed.
Symptoms of H1N1 are fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body ache, headache, chills, and fatigue. Sometimes vomiting and diarrhea may also be present. Most people who contract this virus do not need to seek medical attention.
