Ontological security is where people feel stable in life, have a sense of order, purpose, and continuity and have a positive view of themselves, the world, and their future. They know where they came from and where they're going. They're not afraid of death, taxes, economical conditions and woes, and of change. They take things in stride and seldom lose control of their senses, their tempers, and their emotions. These types of persons exude confidence and trust, not only with themselves but with others. They make the best leaders in business, school, and politics. They're not afraid to try new things because they don't fear failure!
Ontological insecurity is exactly the opposite! Ontologically insecure people question their very existence and purpose in life, often wondering where they came from and where they're going. They are paranoid in everything; a broken shoelace spells disaster! They have no faith, no confidence, no drive, no trust, no purpose, no sense of being, and are constantly miserable! Since they don't know what life is all about, they can't ever enjoy it! They don't make good leaders because they've never learned to be good followers. Afraid of change, they can never grow and increase.
