I was thinking about doing this in my classroom. I wanted to design an experiment that would actually use carbon dioxide gas, the primary greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. I was going to buy 2 plastic containers, with lids, from Target or Walmart and place equal amounts of ice in each container. I would place a bowl of baking soda in one of the containers. Using the appropriate probes, I would record the temperature and amount of carbon dioxide in each container as a baseline. I was going to make a vinegar delivery system using aquarium hosing so I wouldn't have to open the lid and compromise the temperature and carbon dioxide readings. Theoretically, there should be an increase in temperature in the container with the baking soda and vinegar, assuming the container was sealed properly. You should be able to collect two sets of data: an increase in temperature as well as a difference in the amount of ice left in each container. I never got a chance to actually set up and perform this experiment so I don't have any data to share. I was also wondering about a heat source like the sun or a heat lamp. Hopefully this might give you an idea of where to start. I've included a couple links of similar experiments.
