What are some major symbols in The Devil Wears Prada?

In my mind, one of the major symbols is the fashion world and the objects of fashion.  Naturally, "Prada" would be one such object as well as Hermes scarves.  The symbolic functions of the elements of fashion and the fashion world operate on a couple of levels.  The first would be the notion of beauty and how these representations of "beauty" might actually represent some of the worst in human nature.  Miranda's dominating and cruel behavior is always masked in the best shoes, the best coats and sunglasses, as well as the Chanel gown.  Fashion masks and conceals ugliness.  At the same time, this helps to reveal a hollowness that cannot be concealed.  There is a certain emptiness to Miranda's life that cannot be fully satiated, regardless of all the elements of fashion that are present.  It is because of this that Andrea ends up rejecting the life that she once so coveted through her worship of Miranda, which was generated in large part by fashion and its world.
