Can a flatfoot be corrected?

Being flat footed is a permanent condition that can have genetic causes.  It can also be caused by pregnancy, illness, injury, and prolonged stress on the foot.  In this condition, the arch of the foot collapses placing the sole of the foot into contact with the ground.  Having flat feet can result in knee, foot, and lower leg pain.

Treatment for flat feet include the use of orthotics to support the arch, foot gymnastics, and other exercises prescribed by a doctor.  In extreme cases, surgeries may be performed to create an arch.
